The making of our Homeschool Room

We have been working the past few days on transforming our office/guest bedroom/playroom/workout room to also serve as our homeschool room (yes, that is one multi-tasking room!)  Thankfully, the room is quite large and still has plenty of space in the middle to accomodate a folding table which we purchased from Sam's to serve as a place for the children to work.  It folds in half for easy storage when we want the space for playtime and when guests are over.

The closet is also quite large, and has been a project on the back burner since we moved in.  Up until now, there has been one wire shelf inside, and lots of wasted space with random items in there just because it's the home for things without a home!  So, we decided to move the bookshelf  from our bedroom in there to serve as storage area for homeschool/craft supplies.  We have another bookshelf already in the office, etc. room that is going to take the place of the one in our bedroom.  THEN, we are going to hang the kids' chalkboard and school calendar on the wall where that one is.  Below are pics of the progress so far...

The (almost) emptied closet

There is still this side that is full where Jon is either going to build in shelves or we are going to leave it with the drawers.

I took the wire shelf out...which is either going in the laundry room or our master bdrm closet...so this is the blank slate...

Sean helped me vacuum...



This is all the "stuff" that came out of the closet that will eventually need a home...(there was more that didn't get in the pic)

I moved the bookshelf from our room into the closet (Lilly enjoyed the empty shelves, momentarily...)





Then the plastic drawers went in and everything was filled...



...and labeled...





Some spaces still need some work...namely the inside corner with my crotching stuff on top...Jon is going to put a shelf back in half of the closet where the old one was to use this space.



Overall, not a bad start!  I'll do a post once the other bookshelf is moved and the chalkboard and calendar are up!

I inserted this picture again just so you could see the holes in the wall from the old shelf where Jon is going to add another one back in...this will give more storage!
