Lilly's New Hairdo

Something ALWAYS happens when I try to take a shower with the kids alone by myself. Even with Brilee in the bathroom with me, I should have known Sean & Lilly would get into some sort of mischief. So, when I came out of the bathroom to find pieces of cut yarn all over the office/schoolroom, I thought that was their "mischief." However, as I looked closely, there were pieces of hair all mixed in with the yarn. Then I looked at Lilly--

Yes, her hair is chopped up all over the back. Then I saw the scissors on the floor--the "grown-up" scissors. Sean said, "Her hair was getting in her face, so I climbed up on the desk chair to get your scissors to help her keep it out of her face!" I must admit I started crying when I saw her hair. I yelled, "You cut off all of Lilly's pretty hair!" I lost it. My kids must think I'm crazy...one of those days you wonder how in the world you're ever going to survive being a mom. I called Jon and he helped calm me down.

We decided that since Sean cut her hair, he should have to pay for her to have a haircut to even things out...and that he should pay for it out of the money from his piggy bank, which he's been saving to buy an excavator. Well, Jon decided he should only have to pay for half of the haircut since the scissors were left where he could get them and they were unsupervised. Makes sense to me, though it seems nothing in this house is truly out of reach from him. Anyway, after the kids woke up from their nap, we went to Pigtails & Crewcuts to try to salvage her hair.

Lilly did very well for her first haircut and the lady tried to keep as much length to her hair as possible. She put a hairband around the longest part and cut it off for me to keep in an envelope I brought.

I think she did a very good job of blending in Lilly's hair and that you can't tell if you didn't know all this happened. It just looks very layered in the back. I took this picture at home and the lighting isn't great, so it actually looks better in this picture than in person.

I don't know why I got so emotional over her hair. I felt so sad seeing her hair lying all over the ground, and all I could think about was brushing her hair this morning, and how much I was going to miss her beautiful baby hair at the bottom. We mothers are so sentimental ;) I'm so glad I took this picture of Lilly at the airshow on Sunday. She was sitting on the ground wistfully looking at some kids sled down the hill on cardboard. I took the picture to record her pouting posture, but it was a great shot of her hair :)

Hopefully, the dent in Sean's excavator money will help him remember to leave his sister(s) hair alone from now on!

Warriors & Warbirds Airshow

Yesterday we went to the Warriors & Warbirds airshow at the Monroe airport. The kids loved seeing all the planes and "bombs" exploding on the ground! Jon got some pretty great shots. All of the planes were those that flew in previous wars--I love that they keep planes like this flying so our kids can learn about history up close and personal!

Before I post the pics, I wanted to mention I uploaded our October pictures to Shutterfly this morning, and posted them to blogger, which will be on the post before this one. I know I'm behind on my blogging by a couple of weeks. The kids keep me busy with everyday life that I don't find much time to sit down to upload pictures much. Most of the pics on there are duplicates of previous posts, but for my parents who might want to order them, I made sure to get them on there! Now for the warrior & warbirds pictures--there are A LOT of them, so excuse the overload!
