Sean found a turtle behind our fence on Saturday while Jon was mowing the grass. When I came home with the girls from the grocery store Sean comes yelling to me, "Come see my turtle!" This is what I see:

Jon helped him put him in a large empty pot (on top of a chair so our dog wouldn't get to him...Sean was convinced Indy would eat the turtle...)
He put some spinach in there for him to eat and a lit with water on top for him to drink from...
He has been checking on that turtle night and day for the past two days. We let him keep him for a couple of days just to observe him, but told Sean he would need to go back to find his family soon because he misses them. Well, this morning, all on his own, Sean said, "I think it's time to let the turtle go." I took a few pictures of him with Tin Tin, as he affectionately named him (after a little movie we saw last week and Sean adored.
When the turtle spread out his legs Sean got scared thinking he was trying to claw at him. He nearly dropped him before I could put a bucket under the turtle
He took the turtle behind the fence to let him go. But since he wouldn't come back out of his shell, we had to gently dump him out of the bucket into the grass.
Sean sat there by the fence forever watching him.
He kept moving him around saying he wasn't moving fast enough back to his family and he knew he just wouldn't find them again.
....and he is now crying because he misses him so much :( Oh, the heartache of being a little boy
I told him I'm sure he would see many more turtles and would even see Tin Tin again behind our fence (if he's not crawling as fast as his little legs can take him away from his "observatory home" he loathed the past two days trying to crawl out of!
