Brilee's Dress Rehearsal

Brilee had her dress rehearsal for dance this afternoon.  I took pictures of her at the house beforehand, though, because the last time we paid money for pictures and they turned out awful (like every single one had a blue tint to it that a filter couldn't fix).  Not doing that again.
This has been a crazy week- one of those where God throws you a huge curve ball and you just have to ride the wave feeling like any minute you're going to drown in the pool full of unexpected trials. Maybe I'll share about that later.  Right now I feel like crashing into a big heap but can't because we have another busy Saturday with Brilee's recital and Sean's pinewood derby.  We  decided to postpone our open house scheduled Sunday because it has just been too overwhelming this week and the house is a wreck.  I haven't had a chance to cook or do anything else except about umpteen loads of laundry and trying to maintain sanity.  Long. Week.  And poor Jon, it's his birthday but in the commotion of the week I realized this morning I hadn't told him happy birthday.  So, the kids and I called him on the way to school to sing to him.  We'll do more  to celebrate later, honey- one day...
But, to the original point, here are the few pics I snapped of Brilee.  She is so excited.  She chose all these poses herself.

Jack's Rock

There is a big rock in the natural area in our front yard that Jack has claimed as his favorite spot.  Several times already we have lost track of where he is outside, and every time we have found him sitting on his rock.  So we have named it Jack's rock.

I love this sweet boy to pieces.

5 months!, a Turtle, and delayed Mother's Day Pics

My sweet Luke turned 5 months old yesterday!
He's now graduated to sitting up in the laundry basket :)

Jack wanted to hold him in it <3

Luke had been getting hungrier and hungrier between feedings even though I have ample supply (and you can tell he's so chunky he's not lacking!) that I decided to go ahead and give him baby food even though I usually try to wait till 6 months.  I had to start feeding Jack at 5 months too because he did the same thing.  But, Luke had a weird allergic reaction, so I'm going to talk to the dr. about it at his next appointment.  He had his 2 month appointment at 3 months so the dr. told me to wait to do his 4 month appt at 5 months.
He actually liked the prunes I gave him, even though you wouldn't tell it from this pic but he likes to splurt his food and it surprised him when it went up on his nose, haha

Last Sunday was mother's day, but we were in such a rush that morning to get to church so I could play piano that we didn't take time to take pictures.  Glad I remembered this Sunday.  Love all my babies and our new steps perfect for picture taking.  Now if Jack could get with the program and sit still :)

The other big event here Sunday was the turtle the kids spotted outside while eating breakast.  They immediately ran outside in their pjs, grabbed my phone to take pics.

After coming back inside Sean googled types of turtles and discovered it was a box turtle.  He wants to learn more about them so we are going to go to the library soon to get a book about box turtles.

Brilee's Preschool Graduation

I can't believe that Brilee is already graduating preschool!  It seems just a short time ago that Sean was in preschool when I found out I was expecting her much less that she is all ready for Kindergarten next year!

I think it seems to have gone by quicker since she is the only child of ours with an "early" birthday before the school cut off date who is 5 by the beginning of the school year.  Sean & Lilly were nearly a year older than her when they started Kindergarten.  So, she and Lilly will be one year apart in grades, which is helpful for homeschooling anyway.

Yesterday was a busy day that started with a musical performance of Frog and Toad by the Kindergarteners at Lilly's school.  I couldn't get many pictures from where she was sitting, but here are the few I did get.  She is in the pink & white striped shirt.

After the performance when the students were exiting the stage, I noticed Lilly start crying.  Her teacher went over to her and I could see her still crying.  Even though I thought we caught eyes when I waved to her, my first thought was that she didn't know I was there.  So I made my way with the stroller to the front and turns out she did know I was there but she didn't want me to leave :(  So I told her teacher I'd check her out early to go watch Brilee's graduation next door.  We had a bit of time to spare before that so we went over to Squirrel Lake Park so she could play while I fed Luke.  I think we'll still visit this direction quite often just because of this park- we love it!  While we were there a brave squirrel was coming close to us and Lilly took this picture.  He ended up coming almost to our feet after this picture, which made me a bit nervous because I thought he might jump on us!  But he realized we didn't have any food and scurried away.

So, after that we headed over to First Baptist Matthews where Brilee goes to preschool (and has the same teachers that Lilly had last year)  She helped me entertain Luke so I could take pictures because he wanted out of his carseat to watch and play.  So thankful she ended up being with me!

Brilee is 2nd from the left in her class

All the 4 year old classes- Brilee is in the middle row 2nd from the left

Brilee with her teachers, Mrs. Pam & Mrs. Christa- they have been awesome for my girls and so thankful for the preschool.

Here is a short video of the recessional when Brilee was exiting.  She was looking for where we were sitting again.

So excited for our new venture next year with homeschooling a K, 1st & 3rd grader!  Pray for us, please! :)
