Facebook Fast

To any friends and family (who might still read this blog!) I'm taking a fast from Facebook.  I've never observed Lent before, or even studied the history behind it...but yesterday I kept reading about people giving up certain things that are a distraction to them from God, which I can definitely see as  beneficial with social media obsession.  Then, last night I read a wonderful article on the Desiring God blog entitled, "Facebook Obsession and the Anguish of Boredom." I knew immediately that I needed a hiatus from facebook.  It is the most time consuming and mindless scrolling of all social media platforms for me, so I am eliminating it for a period.   Maybe I'll be able to handle the comupter form after 40 days, but no matter what, it's not going back on my phone.
So, even though I don't officially "celebrate" Lent, I thought the purpose behind it is a great idea for me to refocus my attention where it belongs.

I'm going to go back to the old form of communication I used to share photos of the kids with family and friends, which is this blog.  I'm a bit annoyed at myself in my writing at this moment, but I don't want to take the time to edit it right now.  The whole point is so my time isn't distracted, correct?  So, forgive the flaws in my writing as I'm just letting my thoughts flow freely.

I took this video of Luke on Monday before co-op.  Lilly discovered how much he loved this learning book of shapes, numbers, and buttons, etc.  She's trying to help him a bit too much, but you can tell from his pointing that he knew it before she tried to show him.  He's a smart little cookie! ;)

Cupid Co-Op Hop

Our co-op had a family dance Saturday, and we had an amazing time!  I am so thankful for my friend, Meredith, who organized the whole thing to make it happen.  So blessed by this amazing group of moms!  I need to get these photos and videos off my phone for storage space, so I'm uploading them here.  The videos are dark, but they are hilarious with the kids dancing!

YouTube links to my videos are below:

This is Jon dancing with Brilee.  Jack was calling my name, and I was starting to get frustrated until I realized he wanted to ask me to dance with him.  <3 <3 <3

Luke usually loves being on Daddy's shoulders, but not this time!

The kids had this train going most of the night.

Luke enamored with the glow ring

Luke was trying to figure out what dance steps to do

Sean was having a blast doing The Twist.  I only caught a few seconds on video.

The kids played a very fun relay game in groups.  This was Lilly's group.

Jack's group.  He was told to go take a sip of drink.

Brilee dancing to Love Shack- she was really enjoying herself!

Brilee dancing some more- ignore my awful laugh!

Jon and the girls dancing to Butterfly Kisses

Jon & the girls 2

This is absolutely the best video!  My friend, Meredith, took it, and it is perfect!

We had an awesome time!  <3 our Co-op!

First Day

What a fun but packed day!  Lots of things to adapt to our schedule and modify from the curricula lessons to work for the pace our kids need to learn, but I think it will be doable.  The hardest part will be keeping Jack occupied without the mishaps we had today.  But, overall, I loved every part of having them home.
