10 years ago today...

I graduated from college on December 16, 2000. At times that seems like a lifetime ago, and at others it seems like yesterday. I'm not sure why I was so eager to graduate early (well, I guess I do...our 10 year wedding anniversary is in 3 weeks, so I was eager to get married!) and finish college early in 3 1/2 years. I could have stayed the typical 4 years and finished with a double major, but I only needed ONE class the Spring semester to do a double major. I was perfectly content with my Bachelor of Science in Child Development and Family Relations with a minor in Psychology. I was not going to stick around another semester to do a senior research class to give me the double major. Getting married was MUCH better! :)

It seems the only photos I have of my graduation are at my parents house (this was JUST prior to our introduction to digital cameras)...so no great photo shot of me shaking hands with the dean. No shot of me wearing my cords for graduating from the Honors College and for graduation Summa Cum Laude. Who remembers that anyway (well, I guess I do since I worked VERY hard for those grades!) In any case, I've also tried scanning the graduation program from my scrapbook to upload, but the scanner isn't cooperating either...so I resorted to taking a picture of the graduation program since I feel the necessity to have a picture in every blog post...call me crazy!

So, maybe you can't read this well, but I always thought it was neat my college roommate, Aimee (Hudson) Vaughan and I had our names listed together in the program after being roomies all 3 1/2 years together. Of course, the December graduations were always smaller with fewer graduates, so that helped--but it was still special!

Look for a HUGE post with TONS of pictures in 3 weeks--because who can let a 10 year anniversary pass by without a post filled with a copious amount of pictures! I can't believe it's been this long!

Reindeer Cookies

This is a tradition we started last year after I saw the idea on a website, which I now can't remember--(so, sorry I can't give credit this go around to the original idea source!)

The kids had fun assembling these cute and yummy cookies! Last year I used vanilla frosting because that was on the website, but I decided we just HAD to use chocolate this year, and boy are they even better!

I had to add the finished product first since blogger doesn't give me the choice of which photo will display in the description anymore, but will add the first by default. Now you know, and don't you feel better! lol

So, here was the process...if there was one...I used a ziploc bag to squirt on the icing and showed the kids how to add the eyes, nose and antlers. Well, Sean was very random in the process.

most of them ended up with green noses since that is his favorite color (I had to entice him to make a few of them red like Rudolph)

Then, since this was such a long and difficult baking project, they just had to stop for a break

um...to eat one...

and mommy had to sneak this behind their back...

So, there you go! Our favorite Christmas "baking" activity to date!

Brilee Eating and more Christmas Baking

Brilee loves playing with Cheerios on her tray...if her hands can get hold of them, that is!

she had just finished her green beans for lunch, hence the green face!

Who can resist that precious face and bright blue eyes? not me!

The kids did some more baking this afternoon (mostly for daddy since he has a headache @work and loves rice krispy treats!) We added some red & green sprinkles to make them Christmas-y!
