Sean's 4th Birthday

Our sweet Sean Robert turned FOUR years old yesterday!  I cannot believe how fast these years have already flown by, and I admit it makes me very sad to see him growing so quickly.  However, I know God has a great plan for his life, and I pray that Sean will grow to learn disciplined habits, and become a godly man who loves God with all his heart.  He is so precious to us, but we know that he is the Lord's and I pray we will continue to cherish the blessing he is to us and our family.

4 years old!

(there is a slideshow of all the pictures at the bottom of the post, but I'm going to talk about our crazy busy day first!)

We woke up yesterday and has a special breakfast of homemade donuts using the pan that Aunt Wanda and Uncle Bill gave us for Christmas--Sean absolutely LOVED them and his special day was
off to a great start.

We had SO MUCH to accomplish since I was CRAZY enough to plan not just one but TWO parties for him on the same day--one in the afternoon for all his friends and the other in the evening for family.  As if that wasn't enough--I invited practically every friend he has to the first party, which resulted in a total of 27 kids and 13 adults to plan for.  Without the help of my wonderful hubby, I would have completely lost it.  He planned a great game for the kids using Sean's new nerf dart gun.  He printed off a huge target to put in a picture frame that had the different characters from Toy Story on the target with corresponding points if you hit each one.  The kids loved it.  We borrowed the train table that stays at Jon's parents' house and had all of Sean's Thomas track, engines, etc. out for the kids to play with.  I think this was the biggest hit.  Then, there was the craft I had planned for the kids to make their own rockets out of a paper towel tube.  Um...it was a bit too hard for the kids, so me and some of the other moms ended up making them and handing over to the kids to decorate.  I think only 1 kid decided to do that--the others just began running around the house flying their rockets.  They had a blast! (no pun intended--well, maybe just a little)

Then, we ate the humongous cake that I made out of four 9x13 cakes.  It took 4 batches of buttercream frosting to cover and decorate it.  Jon drew the sketch for me and made the wings to go on the sides.  I'm pretty proud of the outcome!

After the first party was over, we had 1 1/2 hours before family arrived.  I had made a HUGE batch of chili that morning to keep simmering on the stove and we wrapped 16 baked potatoes to throw in the oven at 5:00 so they would be done by 6:30.  The meal was a hit with family and thankfully this party was much more relaxed.  We opened presents only at this one, because I wanted the focus at the first party to be about having fun with friends.  I don't want Sean to come to expect lots of things in the future, so I tried to keep that part simple.

When family left around 9:30 we were absolutely exhausted and crashed pretty much about 15 mintues after we got things put away as much as possible.  Such a tiresome day, but every bit of it was worth it for my handsome little guy.  I must say, however, that I will not be attempting THAT in the future!  Probably just small parties where he can invite only 2-3 friends to join the family for only 1 party or a sleepover when he gets old enough.  Nice and simple, but still special.

6 Months

Brilee had her 6 month well check-up today (she'll really be 6 months tomorrow, but we couldn't really go on Christmas Eve!)  She now weighs 15lbs 1 oz and is 26 inches long, which is the 50th percentile in both.
Poor thing had to get 3 shots and she turned beet red from so much screaming.  At least it was over in just a few minutes.  Now I'm just hoping the effects of the shots won't make for a cranky girl on Christmas.  She has so much to look forward to on her first Christmas!

Her latest hobby is pulling off her socks! (And, the paci seems to be in every picture of her lately because of her incessant drooling!)

Two of her shots went in this leg and one went in the other

The funny things my kids say...

I've been saving up a few of funny "sayings" from Sean & Lilly lately...

Sean:
"Mommy, do you still have that thing in your bathroom that tells me how much I can wave?"

After seeing me pick the wide fat part off of my bacon Sean has started doing the same thing and saying, "I don't want to eat the FAT!"  For fans of Friends, you will know what I'm thinking about!

Sean while looking at our wedding photo:
"Mommy, is that the day you and daddy were MARRIED?"  Me:  "Yes"  Sean:  "Just like one day Lilly and I will get married!"  Me:  "Ummm...no...you and Lilly can't get married because you're brother and sister."  Sean:  "Oh, boy--then WHO will I EVER marry?" Me (laughing):  you've got plenty of time to worry about that!

He has a protective streak towards Lilly (in between the more prevalent streak of pushing and being mean to her).  If I'm trying to get Lilly to come to me and she won't come and I say, "Ok, Lilly--we're going bye bye without you", Sean will get protective and yell, "NO!  Mommy, you have to get her!  She's my friend!"  Awww...why doesn't he remember this the other 99% of our day?

Sean while playing with Brilee:  "Mommy, when I was a baby like Brilee I didn't know how to talk either.  And I didn't have any teeth and could only eat BABY food.  And when I was little like Lilly I couldn't play my games.  But now I can.  I don't want to get young again."

Lilly:  Well, nothing really seems very FUNNY these days with her....since her latest trend is just whining, whining and more whining.  And did I mention whining?  Hoping her very stubborn 2 year old attitude passes soon.  She will ask for help, then when you go to help her, she'll start whining, "No, want to."  (she wants to do it)  Then when she can't, she'll starting whining, say, "Help" then the cycle starts all over.  We've resorted to just taking her up to her room and making her have her tantrum in her room until she's ready to stop whining.  So far, she just falls asleep on her bed, which hasn't been very conveinent today, but it gave Sean and I some good time together working on his letters and sounding out words.

Lilly has also developed a strange obsession with hand sanitizer.  It started from the dispenser at the childcare center in the YMCA.  As soon as we pull up in the parking lot of the YMCA she starts screaming excitedly, "wash our HANDS! wash our HANDS!"  She has to be dragged from the dispenser and I have to keep a close eye on her to make sure she doesn't LICK it out of her hand!  I've heard of some kids getting alcohol poisoning from ingesting the stuff.  At least whenever we go, I have a good motivator to get her to cooperate and walk beside me instead of throwing herself on the ground in a tantrum.  All I have to say is, "Lilly--come on and wash your hands!"  The little things...

I thought there were some more, but Brilee just woke up crying, so that's all for now from MommyYB land.

Aunt Wanda & Uncle Bill

This past weekend we got to have dinner with Aunt Wanda and Uncle Bill. It's always a special treat this time of year to get to spend time with them when they make the trek down south from Connecticut. We wish we had more time to spend with them, and hopefully we will be able to go visit them sometime in the near future and see that part of the country.

Note:  the beads were courtesy of Lilly who wanted to share them with Wanda!

Drool Factory

I have a little drool factory...her name is Brilee.  I'm pretty sure a tooth will pop out of those little gums any day now!  At least I hope so for her sake!

This pacifier clip strap is SOAKED where she mostly gnaws on it

she was rocking back and forth so much I couldn't get a very clear picture!

Her shirt is also soaked, which also doesn't show up well in these!  Poor girl must feel like she just took a shower in drool!

Come on, teeth, any time now!

Reindeer Kids

The kids made the classic reindeer antlers craft today with their handprints.  Sean asked to make a nose too so he could be Rudolph.  Lilly, on the other hand didn't want anything at all stuck to her nose!

Sean wrote the "EAN" part of his name by himself--he still asks for help with his S's because he says they look like 3s
