Mineral Springs Greenway

We took advantage in the drop in temps to go explore the Mineral Springs Greenway just up the road from our house.
It is part of the network of trails connecting 15 states.  This portion is 2 miles total from the trailhead off McNeely Rd. up to the current end of the trail near the Copper Run neighborhood off Pleasant Grove Rd. with a few proposed trails marked on the map.
I packed Luke up in the Ergo since the trail is not suitable for even jogging strollers.

Brilee checking out the map

At first Sean thought this was a turtle, then decided it was just a rock...I'm not sure

They thought the horse tie off post was for doing the limbo :)

We stopped for a snack shortly after the half mile marker then turned around to go back.  Sean wanted to do the whole 2 miles but I told him that would be 4 total and that is too much for the little kids (and my back was hurting carrying Luke and the diaper bag!)
They spotted a tree that looked like a 4 or an H as Lilly pointed out.

We met a nice man and his two dogs on the way back and he thoroughly enjoyed talking to them.  He said, "You have your own day camp!"  The dogs' names were shadow and black dog, lol.  The man especially liked when he thought jack was saying half mouse, but he said "half mile" because Jack was trying to tell him we walked half a mile.  :)

What a nice morning!  So glad to be near such a cool hiking trail, and Jon told me later that there are geocaches there we will have to try to find them another day!
