First Grade!

August 26, 2013...The FIRST day of 1st Grade!  Is anyone else humming the Veggietales song in their head now from the movie Jonah?  

We're super excited that Sean is starting his 2nd year at Matthews Elementary School.  We had such a great experience last year and are praying the same for this year.  We've heard Sean has an excellent teacher, and he even has a few friends in his class from last year, so he's really excited to see them again.  

 We walked on the greenway to school this morning...something I attempted the beginning of last year, but just couldn't hang after about October when I was getting bigger and bigger pregnant with Jack.  Hopefully we can last longer this year!  ;)

Lilly was very sad to leave Sean at school.  She started crying and said she wanted to stay too :(  I told her she would start pre-school next week, but she sobbed, "I want to stay at big kid school NOW!"  Poor girl...one more year and you too will be here.  I do kinda feel sorry for her since she is already reading and probably could start Kindergarten, but I'm thankful for another year to have my sweet little girl at home with only 3 half days at pre-school.  Too soon she will be gone all day as well, so I didn't ask to have her tested to start this year!  I was a "young" Kindergartener myself and started when I was 4, turned 5 in September.  So, I know what it's like being one of the youngest in the class.  I'm sure she could handle it, but I also know the benefit Sean has had being one of the oldest in his class.  Praying for her as she starts next Tuesday!
