Latta Plantation

We went on a fun and exciting field trip today to Historic Latta Plantation in Huntersville, NC.  I have heard of this place from tons of friends, but have never been myself.  Today was the perfect opportunity to visit since they were holding a special day for homeschool families.  The best part--ALL of my kids got in free since they are still all under the age of 4  (not for too much longer, though!)  So, it was a rare treat to only pay for myself!  Anyway, we met up with some friends and enjoyed a nice day including PERFECT weather for a picnic lunch.

I meant to take more pictures than I did, but I guess I was too busy in a leisurely stroll around the grounds and taking in all the details of the tour---wait---who am I kidding???  I was actually too busy trying to keep Sean from pulling every log, board, or touching things he wasn't supposed to!  BUT, I had 1 less kid to keep up with since my dear friend, Holly, wore Brilee in her sling the whole time.  She said she needed an excuse to use her sling again!  :)  Thank, you!

I tried to take a picture of baby Katie, but she didn't find me amusing apparently and wouldn't smile when I tried!  And then I forgot to take more when she and Brilee were cutely "talking" with each other at lunch.  I'll just have to try again next time!

The kids enjoyed dancing with the ladies who had been giving a demonstration while we were eating and no one was around for a presentation.  Holly took a video, and I will add it once I get it from her.  I so wish I got more pics, especially of our picnic, but I'll just have keep my camera out at all times on our next trip so I don't forget about it!

Lilly didn't want to pet him--she kept her distance!
 Muddy pigs!
